Digital Dun Laoghaire merges with the DLBA

Eoin Costello (Dargan Institute clg) and Niall Lawlor (DLBA)

Digital Dún Laoghaire has announced that it is merging with the DLBA with immediate effect. The digital footprint built up by Digital Dun Laoghaire since 2016 (comprising Facebook, Instagram and X accounts) will now be repurposed as the DLBA giving it a big boost to its online presence.

Commenting on the merger Eoin Costello said:

Digital Dun Laoghaire was founded in 2016 at a challenging time for Dún Laoghaire’s business community. Our goal was to help businesses get the most from digital and, in order to fill empty buildings and increase footfall with a high capture rate, project our town, through the Love Dun Laoghaire Buy Local campaigns on DunLaoghaireTown.ie, as a great place to shop, work and spend time. Key to this was bringing people together through our Digital Dun Laoghaire Meetups. It’s done a great job delivering over 40 events over the years with a total attendance in excess of 1,100 business people.

But now it’s time to pool our resources and put all our energy and resources into one entity for the good of town’s business community.

While we will continue to manage DunLaoghaireTown.ie, we will merge Digital Dun Laoghaire, and its digital assets, into the DLBA. We believe we can help build not just the DLBA but the broader DunLaoghaireTown.ie digital cooperative which we will continue to manage. This is aligned with the ongoing logic of pooling our resources to help us all unlock our town’s potential in a more effective way.

Niall Lawlor welcomed the news saying:

We are delighted to welcome the merger of Digital Dun Laoghaire with the DLBA and we are particularly please with the new DLBA website which they designed.

The strategic partnership will continue with the DunLaoghaireTown.ie Coop. This social enterprise, a member of our Skills & Engagement Sub Committee, has a long track record in people led campaigns in support of our local businesses under the title Love Dún Laoghaire.

The DunLaoghaireTown.ie Coop will help our organisation engage all business in our town to gain the benefit to be had from municipal events such as the Christmas Festival and Saint Patrick’s Day, as well as the rapidly growing Dargan Forum which we are hosting a ‘Why Choose Dun Laoghaire’ Garden Party which local businesses are invited to attend
